Now people, death has nothing to do with this post.. Actually, this post is about some powerpoint tips.. This is from a funny video shown during PW.. So, here are the tips.. Enjoy!!
1. Summarise!!
Dont type everything down!! It look very wordy which will bore your audiences. Aside from that, its also tiring to type a lot of things. Therefore, summarise the points and only write the important points. Be direct to the point!!
2. Font Size!
Font size of the words are also VERY IMPORTANT. However, people dont usually pay much attention to it as they dont bother to and/or are just plain lazy. Your font size must not be too small or too big!! It should be just right for the audience to read.
3. Keep text Stationary.
It just means that yout text should not be all over the place and the animations of the words should not be overused or exaggerated. Use the animation that can make your audience be attentive.. not make them tilt their heads 360 degrees just to read your slides. They should not be flying around!! If not, how to read your slides?? Got point right??
4. Font Analysis
What does that mean?? It means font analysis. Dont put fonts that are difficult to read such as windings which will turn your audience to not understand what you are saying. Correct spelling should be used as well.. People.. honestly.. You are no longer a baby so can you just spell things correctly?? If you have no idea how the word is spelled, look at the dictionary.. PLEASE dont make your audience suffer.
Less acronyms should be used as well.. Dont overuse them ok?? Or else.. your audience who dont know the acronyms, especially the older generation, will have completely no idea at what you are saying at all. So font analysis is also IMPORTANT!! dont ignore it.. ok??
5. Dont put excessive animations.
Again, dont put words all over the place.. They are not birds, they are words.. (cool..it rhymes^^) so they should not fly all over the place. I believe that it is common sense not to put animations that will make your words disappear or roll all through out your slide.. Think about the welfare of your audience.. They should not suffer for your faults or misdoings.. So is that clear?? It is right??
6. Dont put too much pie charts. (like duh!!)
This does not refer only to pie charts but also to other charts and graphs as well. I dont want to see a presentation or worse, even a slide, with a strawberry pie chart, lemon chart, ice-cream pie chart and all the charts that you can think about.. You might think that this is funny but some people really do this.. THis will only bore your audience especially at the end.
7. Colour of background and words.
As you can see from the title, some of the words are not seen clearly.. Mainly because of their colour. Therefore, your words should be clearly seen against the background.. If your background is black and your words are also black, what will your audience see?? THey will be staring at you, the presenter, with blur faces and blank expressions.. Dont be surprised if someone throw a tomato at you.. Some might even walk out. You dont want that to happen right?? You will be very pang seh you know?? So save the embarrassment and use the appropriate background and letter colour.
